Battlefield has single player and multi-player game modes I will focus on multi player in this review for a couple of reasons; single-player is not out until release – I’ll review it on release. This was a beta test, single player is not often seen in beta releases. Game companies use beta’s to stress test servers, where more than one person is connecting together to play on the same game, and receive feedback back from the player community. flash900 READ MORE

Favorite New Thought: Ray Caesar

Favorite New Thought: Ray Caesar

One of our favorite thoughts Ray Caesar, has an exhibition opening this weekend at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. “A Dangerous Inclination” continues on Caesar’s cathartic theme of elegantly haunting works. Caesar’s latest works disclose a more personal side to his narratives. While maintaning the self disclosure theme “A Dangerous Inclination” has definite notes of difference. Ray Caesar was born in 1958 in London. At an early age, his family moved to Toronto, Canada, where he currently resides. From 1977—80 he attended Ontario College of Art. Of his work, Caesar says” Virtually all of my work deals with coming to terms with the subconscious elements to my life and the way I experience the world around me. My work seems to keep on the regular themes of “Hunting Back Innocence” and “Revelations of Light” and the painful process of “Self Examination” and hidden voices calling like sirens in the night. Premonitions and the worlds of pleasure and pain and ugliness and beauty and humiliation and dignity. For many people what I do is art, but for me the pictures are a communication from my subconscious to my conscious mind. That being said, I love and enjoy what I do and on one level it’s always simply been about sitting in the sun and making pretty pictures” M★C READ MORE

DMC Back To The Future, AGAIN?

DMC Back To The Future, AGAIN?

Goes around, comes around, what’s old is new again and LiLo! 3 common epigrams that seem to dictate the future, as the television man says “but wait there’s more” “The car of the future has really become the car of the future,” joked James Espey, a vice president at DeLorean Motor Company of Humble, Texas. In 1975 GM auto Exec J.Z. Delorean – most noted for the Pontiac GTO – started a small auto company with a huge name, DeLorean, and though his ill fated venture would last only 7 years, thanks to some spectacular publicity – Back to the Future – the thought has stuck. J.Z.DeLorean died in 2005, his legacy lives on. DMC – DeLorean Motor Company reinvented itself via Texas entrepreneur Stephen Wynne acquired the remaining parts inventory and the uberstylized DMC logo trademark. We’ve been speculating on a reinvention of the DeLorean since October 2010, well it’s closer now than it ever has been. Fast Forward, October 2011: DMC has partnered with electric-car start-up Epic EV to develop the Electric DeLorean. The original DeLorean was slow, unreliable and production ceased after just one year, when the company filed for bankruptcy in 1982. Just 9,200 DMC-12′s left the factory. Wynnes DMC EV will use 80 per cent of the DeLorean’s original parts and will be unleashed on the world in late 2013 M★D READ MORE

LiLo Breaches Probation

LiLo Breaches Probation

With Lindsay Lohan the news just seems to go round and round and round. Lindsay Lohan appeared in court today - looking her usual mess – and had her probation revoked, it’s now likely she will go back to jail. A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, today and revoked Lindsay Lohan’s probation, saying the actress has blown off her court-ordered community service and even questioning the starlet’s commitments to her acting career. “She is supposed to be an actress from what I hear. I don’t know how much acting work she’s done or is doing,” said LA Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner said as a gaunt-looking Lohan sat quietly at a table. Lohan, aside from a role in last year’s film “Machete,” has seen her acting career evaporate in recent years. LiLo, who has of course looked a mess for a wee while now, was taken away in cuffs to sort out her bail, which was set at $100,000. She’ll be back in court again on November 2 for a probation violation hearing during which she’ll most likely be sent back to jail. Lohan’s spokesman Steve Honig said Lohan immediately posted bail. Samsungs Mawashi Move! Apples iPhone 4S Removed From Sale in Australia and Japan

Samsungs Mawashi Move! Apples iPhone 4S Removed From Sale in Australia and Japan

Samsung says it has filed for preliminary injunctions in courts in Australia and Japan, seeking a ban on sales of the iPhone 4S on the grounds it infringes Samsung’s technology patents. The South Korean semiconductor, consumer electronics and gadget behemoth says it is also seeking a sales ban on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 in Japan. In May 2011 Apple won a temporary ban on sales of Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1 tablet in Australia. The filing in Japan cites infringement of technology patents, Samsung said, accusing Apple of also violating in Australia three of its wireless technologies essential for operating mobile phones. In a separate filing, Samsung also appealed against an Australian court’s interim order Friday to suspend sales of its Galaxy 10.1 tablet at the request of Apple, which claims a breach of touchscreen technology patents. Samsung, the world’s number two mobile phone maker after Nokia, and Apple have been embroiled in a series of patent suits accusing each other of copying designs and technology for their smartphones and tablets. Twitter Stalking!?

Twitter Stalking!?

Is the government stalking your Twitter account? It’s every government’s dream, a system that can predict future events such as riots, political upheaval and the outbreak of war. With social media playing such a large roll in the organisation of events like The Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street, there’s surely a way to trend upcoming events through social media, the U.S intelligence community believes this to be the case. Research aimed at predicting future social upheaval isn’t a new thought, automating the way data is collected and analysed is a little more complicated though. Foresight and Understanding from Scientific Exposition - FUSE – has been commissioned to do just that by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence - ODNI. Today, the identification and assessment of emerging technical capabilities is a manual, time-consuming, domain-specific, and expert-intensive process. Analysts are in need of a reliable, automated, evidence-based capability that allows them to rapidly identify specific technical areas for in-depth review. B★C READ MORE

GAME: Dead Island Review

GAME: Dead Island Review

Highpants welcomes gamer Gordy flash900 Pettingel to the team, Gordy’s hit the tarmac running with a solid review of Dead Island, Deep Silver’s latest offering for PC, XBox360 and PS3. Melee combat is were this game shines, weapons are available all around in the environment from shovels to swords the zombies themselves, look absolutely incredible. One of my favourite aspects of the game is the fantastic musculature, bone and other types of damage systems that Techland has implemented on the zombies, leading to some highly impressive and extremely gory killings. For example, wielding a sword and swinging it wildly at a zombies’ arm will many a time sever the zombie’s arm completely, leaving them without one of their weapons. Other bodily appendages behave in much the same way – you can crush heads under your foot, (Unlocked skill that gives a foot stomp reminiscent of duke nukem) chop them off, break zombie arms so you can see them flailing wildly and you can even shock zombies with electricity, set them on fire or poison them with your unique weaponry. The graphics in this game look good, the engine is chrome 5 and directx9 runs across all platforms, all functions are here for pc such anti-aliasing and full settings so not just a console ported game, some sound issues, but these were solved by running headphones. AMD FX-8150, The Battle Continues

AMD FX-8150, The Battle Continues

Consensus suggests that the release of AMD’s much anticipated Bulldozer CPU was a little underwhelming. Performance improvements were a mixed bag with gains in some areas and only just staying on par with older AMD CPU’s in other areas. While AMD’s older Athlon and Phenom processors were due for an overhaul, AMD still took the gutsy approach making such aggressive and forward looking changes. The Bulldozer architecture represents a total redesign of AMD’s processors. The new top of the line AMD chip, the FX-8150 contains an astounding 2 billion transistors on 315 mm² of silicon. While the FX is unable to compete with Intel’s 980 Extreme Edition processors on raw performance AMD has priced the chip to compete with Intel’s Core i7-2600K, the current Value Performance King on the desktop. At $269 the AMD FX-8150 is avoiding the whole Extreme Edition comparisons altogether and taking the fight to Intel’s mid range processors. B★B READ MORE

Great Speculations: Apple, Tim Cook's Leadership Determines Whether Apple Shares Hit $100 or $1,000 Next

Our good buddies over at Forbes have been jiggling thier format a little lately, that jiggling is starting to pay off. Forbes articles are now much more, well, NOW. One of our favorite contributors - Nigam Arora - has just posted a superlative piece on Apple’s future, Tim Cook and the shape of things to come for this new marriage. The biggest threat to Apple comes from neither Google nor Microsoft . The biggest threat is not from any external competitor, nor from any new technology. The biggest threat to Apple is a drift to the management-by-committee structure. Without a visionary leader like Jobs, Apple may drift towards a group-think structure where most of the key decisions are made by committees. A large number of major corporations are run by committees. In the corporate world, committees are pervasive starting from middle management all the way to the top. READ MORE

A quick roundup via words and pictures of the wonderfilled world of passive revolution

A quick roundup via words and pictures of the wonderfilled world of passive revolution

Occupy Wall Street protests began in New York late last month, a little over 3 weeks ago. The protests have been vocal but in the main peaceful, within the U.S the protests have taken hold in several other cities including, Washington and Boston. The ideal has now spread to the rest of the galaxy. globally subversives are, as we speak getting organised, with a mind to replicating the success seen in New York. Occupy Wall Street, began as a protest against social inequality, corporate influence on democracy. The apparent absence of legal repercussions for those behind the global financial crisis in the U.S. 15 October 2011: Hundreds of protesters are celebrating after New York City postponed the evacuation of the park at the epicentre of weeks of anti-Wall Street demonstrations. In Boston some 700 police launched the biggest crackdown so far on the movement in the early hours of Tuesday morning, descending on parks to arrest more than 100 protesters for unlawful assembly. A poll by Time magazine showed 54 per cent of Americans had a very favorable view of the protesters, while 23 per cent disapproved and the remaining 24 per cent of those surveyed were asked Occupy What?!. A quick blow by blow rundown: 13 October 2011: Unlike the Wall Street traders and bankers who are often at their desks well before 7.00am, the day starts slowly in Zuccotti Park – the downtown New York campsite that used to be known as Freedom Plaza. 10 October 2011: Several hundred people have marched through Manhattan to take the Occupy Wall Street protest literally to the doorsteps of some of the richest tycoons in the United States. 06 October 2011: Thousands of angry activists, backed for the first time by trade unions, have held their largest march yet in New York City. 05 October 2011: US activists say they will march on Wall Street again this Wednesday despite the arrests of more than 700 protesters who blocked weekend traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. 04 October 2011: At least 5,000 protesters of the Occupy Wall Street movement took to the streets of New York’s financial district, angry that their taxes were used to prop up banks in the 2008 financial crisis. to those souls still camped out in THAT park in New York, have a wonderfilled weekend! Must See Youtube! Miss USA on Math

Must See Youtube! Miss USA on Math

Seems to be a bit of a theme this weekend, people speaking when they really should just NOT! We’re unsure if this is a “They Said What, Shut the F_ck Up, a Bipolar Blond Moment or just a part of an ongoing American themed dullness. Whatever, it’s sure to put a smile on your face. In the original video, Miss Universe contestants were asked what they thought of Evolution being taught in schools - we’ve included this vid – the answer were astounding. We grant this was a tricky question, a toughy even for someone with a fully functioning brain. As if that wasn’t funny enough though, they’ve now been asked if MATH should be taught in schools??? As always a picture is worth a thousand words. Check the Video [Please watch it seated] Here

An Important Message From Sony: Oops!

An Important Message From Sony: Oops!

Right about now, Sony has got to be wondering what the __ they did!? In another round of hack attempts, Sony has been forced to shut down almost 100,000 user accounts. The company said via statement that it had shut down approximately 93,000 accounts on its online gaming and entertainment networks after detecting a mass, attempted sign-in by a third party using stolen IDs and passwords. Philip Reitinger, Sony’s chief information security officer, said in a blog post that the people attempting to break in had obtained the IDs and passwords from another company, website or source. Sony will be sending emails to any affected users, assisting them in unlocking their accounts. The company is also pushing for people to use tougher passwords as well as avoid using username/password pairs on multiple sites. Reitinger says that “only a small fraction” of those 93,000 accounts “showed additional activity prior to being locked.” He added that users credit-card details were not at risk but, as a preventative measure, a small proportion would require password resets. Christopher Daniel: California Roll

Christopher Daniel: California Roll
This is almost cut and paste – a method of journalism I learned from my ex, thanks lover – In this case it’s simply not possible to add to the eloquence of the designer, neither picture nor word. Christopher Daniel, he describes himself as: Male, from Mars and apparently he’s sick? Whatever, he pens a brilliant thought. the last design of Daniels that we fell madly in love with was his Vuzzle Chair. Vuzzle Chair is made of 59 cushion cells that can be arranged according to ones moods. Inspired by the Voronoi diagram. We’re guessing that having designed such a wonderfilled piece, Mr Daniels needed an equally cool floor to plant it on, so he designed one, smarty pants him Seriously, the plagiarism starts here, we are lost for words at this mans talent: Chris Daniels,California Roll, Modular House!
